Pulsing with stories

Sydney’s White Bay Power Station is a visual feast for the curious observer. Now Art Processors’ immersive audio tour brings it fully alive — recommissioned, restarted, and pulsing with stories.

What is a power station without the sound of the furnaces, turbines and the thousands of people who kept it running so that trams and trains carried Sydneysiders to work every day? This immersive audio tour restores the missing heart of White Bay Power Station: its sound.

With rich personal audio featuring Traditional Owners, expert voices and oral histories, accompanied by an evocative soundscape, the tour orients visitors on Country and to the structure of the building, providing visitors with a compelling history of this well-known landmark that powered Sydney over the twentieth century.

The tour is delivered to visitors via an experience management system with an intuitive interface with audio, imagery, wayfinding and accessibility features, such as transcripts.

This is a tour for the ‘everyman’ - locals and the wider community - memory, meaning, and real lives amongst a relic of the industrial age in all its glory.
