Our Story
Creative courage. Inventive spirit. Emotive storytelling. This is what Art Processors is founded on. It remains at the heart of everything we do.
Tasmanian Ingenuity
In 2011, Art Processors was born out of a desire for people to connect more meaningfully to art and culture, to give them greater access to different perspectives, to encourage free thought, dialogue and debate.

Our first major invention, The O, put the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) at the cutting edge of audience engagement. A digitally-based guide that replaces wall labels and puts visitors in charge of their journey, The O has revolutionised how audiences interact with art. Today our full-service design and technology services underpin Mona’s visitor-facing operations, from virtual queuing and ticketing to the creation of their latest exhibitions like Namedropping.
(If you haven’t already, why not visit Mona to get a better sense of the Art Processors story? Alternatively, you can buy the book, Stories of O, for a great introduction.)
Tools for Creativity
Art isn’t what’s created, it’s the experience of interacting with it. There’s no art without a viewer. When Art Processors produced The O, it didn’t so much benefit Mona as create it.
I wanted to create an atmosphere where people felt engaged and valued. Where their opinions were as valued as my opinions. And as I played with it, I became aware that it was a lot more than I intended it to be. It became a tool for creativity, and now curators, artists, myself, and others are using it as part of the artistic creation process.
More than anything, I think that Mona is more fun than most museums. And one of the key reasons that it’s more fun than most museums is because The O takes all of the stuff that makes a museum look like a museum, puts it in the background and enables us to play.

Cultural Tourism Innovation
The partnership between Art Processors and Mona is a best-practice example of how innovative approaches to design can build audiences, and in turn, contribute significantly to the local community and the broader tourism industry.
Our trailblazing work informs our experience design approach to cultural and tourism projects of all shapes and sizes in the Asia-Pacific region.
Valuable Partnerships
We work closely with visionaries and changemakers who know that succeeding in the attention economy requires an experimental mindset, a passion for innovative storytelling and a challenge to the status quo.
We’re serious about this side of our work. We look for projects and partnerships that provide the time and investment needed to drive real innovation in audience engagement.
